FROM OUR RIVER KEEPER JOHN:-
Calling all Rhyl and St Asaph members.
A big thank you to the hard working crew who turned up on Thursday evening. The association is very lucky to have such enthusiastic members who assist in this essential work. The work on brush cutting and access is well on schedule with the two evening work parties at Bodfari and now Llanerch.
Weed cutting at Lleweni Park has also been carried out and this is an ongoing task. Thank you.
At Llanerch the team of 9 members once again stormed through the dense and waist high undergrowth. There is now good access all along this beat and some really fishy looking pools and riffles.
The pools and river areas were made even more accessible with in river work using loppers and hand saws. The lifting of the canopy from in river wading and some enthusiastic willow being severely cut back keeps our waters as some of the best in the system. All this between six and eight in the evening. Well done to one and all.
Four of the work party were that impressed that they set up their fishing rods and were soon enjoying themselves fishing for the rising trout of which there were a lot seen.
We look forward to hearing about your productive outings. If you could kindly keep Chris Porteous informed of large or small catches etc he can ensure that our promotional efforts are up to date.
This is very important for our association. It was good to hear of the brown trout and sea trout being caught on our beats. We hope to hear about the occasional salmon as well and I can report that there are definitely some salmon in the system.
If members would like to keep me informed of issues on the river bank I would appreciate it and we can put it on the list of things to do! It may not seem like it sometimes but we are winning. The access is improved year on year.
A previous report of the gate at Pont Y Ddol upper middle beat not being useable has been looked into and the gate has been repaired.
WORK PARTY WEEKEND SATURDAY 23/24 SUNDAY JUNE 2018
SATURDAY will be at Maes Elwy.
We will meet on our car park at Maes Elwy farm/caravan park entrance at 10.00 hours.
There is plenty for everyone to do. Some brush cutting, some in river tree removal, some access opening work.
Not all heavy work and each one will do what they feel able. If you just want to come along and have a look at the beat then that’s fine.
Its nice to have a chat and catch up as well as keeping on top of our beat maintenance.
SUNDAY we will all, once again, assemble at Maes Elwy farm car park at 10.00 hours.
The work will depend on what we achieved on Saturday.
It will help Rich and I plan the work if you could register your intention to attend.

Rich and I look forward to meeting all of those who are able to help out.
Thank you, Tight lines to you all, John and Rich.
